
Tuition Benefits
IPFW encourages faculty and staff to pursue personal and professional growth through higher education. Both Indiana University and Purdue University offer reduced tuition for their regular faculty and staff and dependents, with certain limitations.
Purdue University 2008-09
Purdue offers fee remission to its benefited faculty and staff who are at least halftime, or disabled or retired. In addition, the fee remission benefit is offered to the children of deceased Purdue employees.
For the staff member (per credit hour):
- Prior to Summer 2006 Admits: pay $77.47 (undergraduate) or $92.83 (graduate)
- New Admits: pay $80.12 (undergraduate) or $95.48 (graduate)
- Limited to 7 credit hours per fall/spring semesters and 4 total hours per summeer
- May audit a class at no charge except the technology fee, repair & rehabilitation fee, and facility fee within the above credit hour limits
For the spouse of a staff member (per credit hour, plus any non-resident tuition if the staff member lives outside Indiana):
- Prior to Summer 2006 Admits: pay $121.25 (undergraduate) or $146.85 (graduate)
- New Admits: pay $123.90 (undergraduate) or $149.50 (graduate)
- Limited to 7 credit hours per fall/spring semesters and 4 total hours per summer
- Staff member must be regularly employed half-time or greater for at least two years.
For the non-resident spouse of a staff member who doesn't qualify for the spouse remission:
- Pays resident fees, if the staff member lives in Indiana
For children of the staff member (per credit hour, plus any non-resident tuition if the staff member lives outside Indiana):
- Prior to Summer 2006 Admits: pay $121.25 plus any non-resident tuition if the staff member lives outside Indiana
- New Admits: pay $123.90 plus any non-resident tuition if the staff member lives outside Indiana
- Limited to first baccalaureate degree at IPFW or another Purdue campus
- May be used by step-children
- Must be under 26 years of age unless continuously enrolled past 26
For the graduate aide or assistant:
- Prior to Summer 2006 Admits: pay $640 per semester (half during summer) plus $25.30 per credit hour
- New Admits: pay $640 per semester (half during summer) plus $27.95 per credit hour
Indiana University 2008-09
Indiana University offers the following:
For the staff member:
- Pay 50% of resident fees plus non-resident tuition surcharge (if appropriate) and any special fees
- Staff member must be full time, retired, or disabled.
- Limited to 6 credit hours per semester or combined summer sessions
- May be used for independent study courses
Spouse of a staff member:
- Pay 50% of resident fees plus non-resident tuition surcharge (if appropriate) and any special fees
- Limited to 3 credit hours per semester or conbined summer sessions
For children of a staff member:
- Pay 50% of resident fees plus non-resident tuition surcharge (if appropriate) and any special fees
- Must be under 24 years of age, unmarried, financially dependent, and living with one parent
- Limited to first baccalaureate degree
- May be used by step-children
- Staff member must be full time, retired, or disabled.
