Tuition Benefits

IPFW encourages faculty and staff to pursue personal and professional growth through higher education. Both Indiana University and Purdue University offer reduced tuition for their regular faculty and staff and dependents, with certain limitations.

Purdue University 2005-06

Purdue offers fee remission to its benefited faculty and staff who are at least halftime, or disabled or retired. In addition, the fee remission benefit is offered to the children of deceased Purdue employees.

Faculty/staff member:

  • Undergraduates: Grandfathered* students pay $62.83, other students pay $70.40 per credit hour at IPFW.
  • Graduates: Grandfathered* students pay $76.09 other students pay $83.68 per credit hour at IPFW.
  • Limited to 7 credit hours per semester, 4 total hours for combined summer sessions.
  • May audit a class, within above credit hour limits, at no charge except technology fee.
  • Must be regularly employed at least half-time, or retired, or disabled.

Spouse of a staff member:

  • Undergraduates: Grandfathered* students pay $92.88, other students pay $103.90 per credit hour at IPFW.
  • Graduates: Grandfathered* students pay $114.98 other students pay $126.03 per credit hour at IPFW.
  • Limited to 7 credit hours per semester, 4 total hours for combined summer sessions.
  • Faculty/staff member must be regularly employed at least half-time for two years
  • Nonresident spouses of faculty/staff members who don't otherwise qualify for spouse remission benefit pay resident fees if faculty/staff member lives in Indiana

Children/step-children of a faculty/staff member:

  • Grandfathered* students pay $92.88 per credit hour, other students pay $103.90 per credit hour, plus any non-resident tuition if faculty/staff member lives outside Indiana
  • Limited to first baccalaureate degree at IPFW or another Purdue campus
  • Student must be under 26 years of age unless continuously enrolled past 26

Graduate aides:

  • Grandfathered* students pay $454 per semester (half during summer) plus $17.75 per credit hour.
  • Other students pay $554 per semester (half during summer) plus $20.15 per credit hour.

*Students who enrolled prior to summer 2002 and have been continuously enrolled for the same degree since.

Indiana University 2005-06

IU offers fee remission to its benefited faculty and staff who fulltime, disabled or retired.

Faculty/staff member:

  • Fee remission is 100% of first 3 credit hours, 50% of next 3 credit hours per semester.
  • Staff member pays any non-resident tuition surcharge (if applicable) and any special fees.
  • Limited to 6 credit hours per semester or combined summer sessions.
  • May be used for independent study courses.

Spouse of a staff member:

  • Fee remission is 50% of first 3 credit hours.
  • Staff member pays any non-resident tuition surcharge (if applicable) and any special fees.
  • Limited to 3 credit hours per semester or combined summer session.

Children of a staff member:

  • Fee remission is 50%
  • Must be under 24 years of age, unmarried, financially dependent, and living with a parent
  • Limited to first baccalaureate degree.
  • May be used by step-children.
